"Being and Time" for Everyone

Even though this one is titled the "serious" guide (companion to the author's briefer guide) it is still only a longer take independent of the usual academic angles. This introduction to Heidegger gets its freshness precisely by coming from outside the academic mills with their political filters. This is the take of fresh eyes, or a fresh mind, on how illuminating and helpful Heidegger's thought can be for life and for anyone with an intellectual spark not already filtered through specialized lenses.

Not Very Helpful

I've read the first several chapters of this concurrently with BT, and I can't say that it's been particularly helpful. It's more of a paraphrase than a "guide" and as such redundant if you plan on reading each chapter of BT at least twice, which I generally do with any work of philosophy.
Also, it contains a number of strange errors of grammar and punctuation, such as "The whole point of Heideggerian phenomenology is to strip the 'blinkers' of tradition away from his readers' eyes so that we will would notice, [...]"(loc. 841-842).
Mr. Foulds would've benefited greatly from an editor. I have to wonder if his "simple guide" is any better.
