About the Author
Dr. Tri C. Tran teaches Vietnamese and Spanish linguistics at the University of California, Irvine. He has published two other books with University Press of America, including Bilingual Dictionary for Students of Linguistics.
Dr. Minh-Tam Tran teaches Vietnamese and English as a second language. She has co-authored several Vietnamese textbooks. She has taught at the University of California, Irvine, and Golden West College.

Excellent

Excellent book, good learning source and walks you through all aspects of the language. My only caveat is that it mixes the Southern and Northern dialects with a bias towards the Northern. That being said, it is very difficult to find any Vietnamese language course that teaches exclusively in the Southern Dialect. This book is not for the beginner or novice learner of Vietnamese, you should ave a fundamental understanding of the language if you want to use this book.

Beginner/Novice Vietnamese language book

This book was required for my Vietnamese language class, the book itself goes over basics of the language such as; use of nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.. along with time of day, simple dictionary, proverbs. There are some things that my professor disagrees with this book for example time of day, also some typos. Some questions are not specific.
