...Nancy wasn't devout. She was scared." Once the ball gets rolling author does a fine job in this historical suspense story containing mysterious characters, exorcisms and burning would-be witches at the stake. Had several likable characters, plot twists and a surprise ending which I enjoyed and also liked how protagonist was able to reason out the mystery step-by-step. Very good book and I would enjoy reading more of this author's works!

Short but creepy

Good short story with a character I enjoy. Would like to see this fleshed out into a longer story but despite that it worked as a short. The author is good with development and backstory, just enough to get you what you need to figure out what is going on with the story. Unlike some serial writers who spend pages rehashing the serial backstory for those people who don't read each book, Quinn does a great job giving us enough without making us hate each page we have to "reread" in each new book.

A very well done short story

I was happy that this book was written. IN spite of this being a short story, there were a lot of plot switchbacks. I did not discover the villain until uncovered by Charlie Tuesday. The setting was very well described, that of London in the 1660's The book was thoroughly delightful.
